Watercool produces most of its product range in Waren an der Müritz. The town is located in the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District, surrounded by numerous lakes and Germany’s largest national park. Sustainability has always been a fundamental part of our corporate culture. For example, we only use materials that are easy to recycle, while production is carried out on particularly energy-efficient machine tools. We have not been as consistent when it comes to our product packaging. Over the years, we have accumulated a large number of different types of packaging. As an example, we used a lot of foam to protect our high-value products.

In the middle of the year, we therefore started to completely redesign our product packaging. The aim was to provide a good protection for the products, reduce the shipping volume and significantly reduce the proportion of foam and other plastics. Even the print design had to be reduced to the bare essentials, but still suit Watercool’s high-quality products. Not an easy task… Some products are already shipped in the new packaging, please find some photos enclosed.

We have made substantial investments in this area and now produce the new packaging directly in-house. This also allows us to produce small batches on demand and to react quickly to any changes. By the way, the basic material of the new packaging is a high-quality corrugated board, which is produced regionally at Smurfit Kappa in Waren.
