do i need to modify, augment, or change out any part of the mounting hardware for direct die cooling on ivybridge using the heatkiller iv pro, or is there enough excess pressure in the mounting springs to take up the extra couple mm of slack from the missing IHS?

or am i just way past supported use case scenarios for this product?

thank you, i was already expecting to have to remove the retention clip at a minimum, as i had to do that back in socket 754 with the q6600 as well. it doesn't appear that they required any spacers added to the mounts for adequate pressure, so here's to seeing what can be had.

turns out i was not getting enough mounting pressure without the clamp/IHS and so i'm going to have to wait till i can dig up my micrometer and make a trip to the hardware store. thank you again for your help.
